The imposing main building follows the grand Victorian style. It is built of stone and crowned by ochre tiled peaks and cupolas. The soaring entrance concourse has Victorian street lamps and shop fronts. There are dramatically high windows, miles of curtaining, wide stairways-everything is on a grand scale.

The Kenya golf hotel was designed to recall the early days of Kenyas aristocratic British pioneers, to compare with the elegance of Savoy Hotel or Claridges in London, and to create a setting for world class golf to rival the re-known of Gleneagles in Scotland. With all of its entire nouveu splendor, there is also a chic resemblance to Hollywoods Rodeo Drive.

The dcor is reminiscent of a grand English country hotel. There is a huge copper fireplace in the vast ballroom. There are countless armchairs and sofas in richly woven fabrics. You see lots of etched glass, polished brass, wood and leather. Ornate draperies billow around towering small-paned windows and there are many cozy drawing rooms and bars set at different levels. Through out the hotel, original works of art have been hung to compliment the dcor.

Most of the public rooms and the expansive open-air terrace below command wonderful wide views over the golf course with its forests and ponds. The sky seems to stretch forever, and there are hills and mountains in the far distance. The separate accommodation buildings and cottages stride out to each side of the main complex, lining the first and last holes-a frame for this beautiful, world-class golf course.

The Nairobi Kenya golf club hotel has been designed and equipped in grand style, and there is a whole directory of services and facilities. They have tried to include everything including a shopping arcade, a full service health and beauty spa, a huge baronial banquet hall, conference and business facilities, a variety of club like lounges, several bars and restaurants, a state of-the-art kitchen gleaming with all the latest imported equipment, and sophisticated up-to-date electronic audio and visual systems.

There are also special butler service stations spaced to conveniently service bedrooms. It all seems so ambitious and rather incongruous in its setting. However, the hotel is still too new to gauge its ambience and operation. When it has mellowed abit, has a smooth operation, and the huge rooms are filled with animated guests, this might become a very special place. Effort and expense have certainly been expended to create something of quality and stature.

Accommodation and rooms at the Windsor Golf and country Club

The Nairobi Golf hotel can accommodate 230 guests in a choice of rooms, studio suites or cottages. The accommodation has been arranged in a series of separate buildings which stand along the edge of the golf course to each side of the main chimneys. They all offer woodland or golf course views.

Rooms are furnished to resemble an English country-style hotel or inn. All have a full bathroom ensuite and a seating area. They are well equipped with direct dial telephone, hairdryer and electronic digital safe. Guests have the convenience of parking near individual rooms.

The Windsor Butler Service on each floor is designed to help guests with everything from laundry to hiring cars, from getting newspapers to reserving golf tee times. There are 15 cottages. A central living room with fireplace is flanked on each side by a double room with full bath. There is an outdoor terrace. The favorites cottages overlooking the first fairway.

The 20 studio suites are situated on the top floor of each guest wing. They feature fireplaces, a sitting area with sofa and chairs, cathedral ceilings with exposed beams and a separate dressing area.

The 80 standard rooms, called superior doubles, are on the bottom two floors of the guest wings. They have one double or two larger-than-twin beds. Rooms on the bottom floor also have garden access doors.

Manuel Uribe, Heaviest Man On Earth

Manuel Uribe, born in Monterrey, Mexico is not just any other ordinary man on the street. He holds the distinction of being the heaviest man on earth. He weights 560 kg (over 1200 pounds.) To get a feel of exactly how heavy he is, you need imagine an adult male, and another, and another, and another (this can go on for a little while more) He is almost as heavy as seven adult men.

Manuel Uribe, I take one day at a time. The doctors told me I had a choice. To choose life or to choose death. I chose life.

According to Duncan Kennedy, a BBC reporter, Manuel Uribe is surprisingly not depressed, rather he's happy,

At his peak, he weighed 560kg, or 1234lb, or 88st. That's half a ton. Small Japanese cars come in lighter.

I got a shock when I first met Manuel. He'd agreed to meet us at his home in Monterrey, northern Mexico.

I had expected him to be closeted in an upstairs bedroom, out of sight. But no. These days you could not meet a more engaging, funny and contented man.

And the cause of his new found happiness? His weight loss.

In the past year, Manuel has shed 180kg/400lbs off his body, thats almost equivalent to two full grown man climbing out of his body!

Lack of Discipline or a Genetic Problem The question here boils down to this, is it even possible to eat till a state where you end up weighing 1200 pounds? This man here is not a kid like 400 Pounds Jessica, he's a grown man who is aware of his doings and even has a supportive mother who cooks his meals daily for this bed-ridden soul.

Doctors think that there might be a fault in his genes which triggered the inflammation of his molecular structure, therefore causing him to gain weight uncontrollably.

We Dont Have an Explanation Dr. Jaime Gonzalez makes house calls to Uribe once a week. His goal: to help his patient lose 1,000 pounds. Uribe's legs and lower body are massaged daily to improve blood circulation. Amazingly, Manuel is perfect health despite his massive weight!

He has no high blood pressure, no high cholesterol, no triglycerides, and no diabetes. Simply put, he's a healthy man who is just, well, overweight.

The Zone Diet Everything Manuel eats now is calculated down to the last detail, literally. His nutritionist says that the diet focuses on controlling his hormones.

"It's about controlling his hormones," says Alejandra Garcia, one of Manuel's nutritionists.

A sample of Manuels meal right now includes a sumptuous bowl of fish soup, complete with large chunks of fish. Followed by this is a grapefruit, half an apple and ending it off with 18 peanuts. Yes, 18 peanuts.

I Choose Life Manuel Uribe, I take one day at a time. The doctors told me I had a choice. To choose life or to choose death. I chose life.

With his life getting back on track, Manuel now has a girlfriend and even wants to have children. He has his own website and has started a Foundation to spread the word that weigh loss for obese people is possible. He has also bought himself a giant massage machine to maintain the circulation in the legs as he can no longer close or move them.

Manuel says his aim is to get down to 120kg/264lbs.

The Legal Aspect Of Spam

Spam is flooding of the Internet with unsolicited bulk messages. It is illegal and unauthorized. It is abuse of the electronic messaging system. The most widely discussed spam is e-mail spam. Other forms of spam have also been reported like the spam in blogs and spam in mobile phone messaging. Stealing Internet mailing list and searching the web for addresses and using that information for spamming is also very common.

Everyday we use to see a large number of junk mails in our mailbox invading our privacy, wasting our time and crowding and confusing our mail boxes. Internet users who have measured phone services, end up spending more money because of spam emails. Spam also costs the Internet Service Provider for transferring the message to the individual Internet user who in turn transmits the cost to the customer.

US Safe Web Act of 2005 (S.1608) has given more powers to the Federal Trade Commission to enhance enforcement of law against spam, spyware and cross border fraud and deception. The Anti-Phishing Act of 2005 (S.472) provides a safeguard against Internet scams which are involved in deceptively obtaining personal information. These scams are known as phishing and are legally considered as a crime. The law also punishes the website which pretends to provide genuine online business when in fact it is swindling and cheating Internet users. .

American people are increasingly using the Internet for various purposes like banking, commerce, communication and entertainment. Therefore, Internet communications must be genuine, authentic and traceable. Spam leading to frauds and financial loss should be treated as a crime and dealt with as per law. It is an ethical and moral responsibility to fight Spam and be responsible for making the Internet useful, safe and reliable.

Mesothelioma Lung Cancer and Its Treatments - Can a Cure Be Far Behind?

Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that affects the lining of the abdomen or the chest. Malignant cells appear in the mesothelium, the sac that acts as protective cover for many of the internal organs in the body. A mesothelium is made of two cell layers - one that directly covers the organ and another that surrounds it. The mesothelium is responsible for producing a fluid that acts to lubricate the organs, such as the heart and the lungs, allowing them to move safely against other parts of the body. Without thorough examination and tests, it can easily be mistaken for lung cancer.

Depending on the part of the body where it appears, mesothelium is referred to in different ways. If it covers the organs located in the abdominal cavity, it is called the peritoneum. The mesothelium that provides protection for the heart is called the pericardium. If it covers the lungs and wall lining of the chest, it is called pleura. In the uterus, it is called the tunica serosa uteri and in the reproductive organs of the male, it is referred to as the tunica vaginalis testis.

Mesothelioma and lung cancer

The term mesothelioma means cancer of the mesothelium. It is not the same as lung cancer. Compared to other forms of cancer, it is rather rare, with only an average of 2,000 cases being diagnosed every year in the United States. This disease can affect both men and women and can appear at any age.

The risk of developing mesothelioma is increased due to exposure to asbestos. In fact, at least 70% of mesothelioma cases showed individuals with a history of exposure to the material. It can also affect people who are living with a person who has been exposed to asbestos. This doesn't limit mesothelioma to this group of people, however. It is also known to appear in other patients even if they have not had prior exposure.

How is mesothelioma diagnosed?

Differentiating mesothelioma and lung cancer is rather difficult, especially if the disease is already in the malignant stage. However, there are certain tests that a doctor may perform, including a physical examination, chest x-ray, CBC or complete blood count, removal of tissue samples for biopsy, bronchoscopy and thoracotomy. A cytologic exam may also be conducted where a small amount of fluid is taken from either the lungs or the abdomen and examined.

Some of the symptoms that merit a visit to the doctor include: difficulty in breathing, chest pain (usually located beneath the rib cage), lumps, swelling or pain in the abdomen and unexplained weight loss.

Is there a cure for mesothelioma?

As of today, no cure for mesothelioma has been discovered. However, there are treatments available to help manage the disease. Some of these treatments include surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Surgery

The most common treatment for mesothelioma is surgery, where a part of the affected part is removed, along with some of the surrounding tissue. This is the treatment that is often used during the early stages of the disease. It helps slow the progression of the disease and can help reduce the symptoms. In cases where the diseased has progressed extensively, other treatment options are considered.

Radiotherapy

Radiotherapy removes cancer cells by using high energy radiation beams. Radiotherapy is effective in removing cancer cells that may remain even after surgery. To ensure that radiation beams hit the target cells, x-rays and computer imaging are also used during the process. This makes sure that only cancer cells are destroyed and reduces the number of healthy cells that are affected.

Radiotherapy is also used as a palliative form of treatment and helps control the spread (metastases) of the cancer. It is also helpful in alleviating symptoms like difficulty in breathing and pain.

Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is often administered intravenously or through the use of catheters, allowing anti-cancer drugs to enter the blood stream quickly. It is often recommended for patients who cannot undergo a surgical procedure.

Chemotherapy has some side effects, including nausea, vomiting, fever, fatigue, diarrhea or constipation. Bruises may also appear and even sores in the throat or mouth area. The kind of symptoms that appear in a patient depends on the chemotherapy treatment, dosage and on that particular patient's reaction.

These treatments are mean to remove as much of the cancerous tumors as possible and to provide relief from painful symptoms. They are also meant to help prolong the life of the patient.

Is there a cure for mesothelioma?

Further research and clinical trials are being performed to help find the best treatments that are the most effective against mesothelioma. No cure has been discovered yet. As of now, early detection and treatments have been showing better and better survival rates. Like lung cancer, mesothelioma can be halted if it is detected earlier.

What the Iraq War Is Really About?

For those of you who think you already know and say it is about oil, sorry you are wrong, or at least not telling the whole story. Yes it is linked to oil, but it is not about oil. Its about the need for America to continue to have the Greenback as the dominant world currency.

You see Iran has gone to the Euro as the standard of measure for buying a barrel of its oil and it was widely known that Saddam and Iraq was considering doing the same. To have two of the three largest oil producers switch from the US dollar to the Euro was not something that the USA could accept. Why? Because for decades the USA has spent more than it earns. It runs record deficits, imports more than it exports. How can a country continue to pay for things with money its not earning? Most other countries would quickly find their currency would lose value and become worthless, similar to what happened to Germany pre-world war two. The United States of America can continue to do this because every other country in the world needs to keep an ever growing quantity of US currency on hand to pay for the cost of importing oil. In fact in many ways an increase in the cost of a barrel of oil actually helps the United States situation in this respect, in that other foreign countries, like Japan, China and other big users of oil need more US currency to pay for that oil. This currency is then used for Arab countries and the like to buy arms and other products from the USA or invested in the US stock exchange. Hence why it is in the US interest to have a middle east that is also in need of a greater quantity of arms and the like products that are one of the few products that the USA not only can compete on the world market but that it truly has a huge technological edge.

Quite simply the US can not afford to have the measure of a barrel of oil change from the US dollar or all those US dollars would come flooding back home to the US and the US dollar would become worthless. Such an event would bring on a depression that would make the great depression look tiny. If the US economy melted down it in this way it would in turn destroy Chinas new economy, and the rest of Asia and the World would be thrown into a serious depression. If you dont think thats a problem consider that world only got out of the last depression by having world war two. To avoid such a situation by having what amounts to a mere side show in Iraq is an unavoidable necessary. With no disrespect to the troops serving, the families of the dead meant the grim reality of the situation is that the cost of 2000 US troops a year is a small price to pay to avoid the next great depression, in fact considering that America loses approximately 20,000 a year in gun related deaths at home, such a statistic is mere small fry when looking at the larger picture. To those protesting the war, etc they would achieve more if they first sort to fix the problems at home, like drunk driving and gun related deaths if they are serious about wanting to achieve good things for the people of the USA before they complain about the war in Iraq. The powers that be are probably more concerned about the expenditure of the war more the casualties, that unfortunately is how the real world works. Plebs like us are just a small statistic.

If it fails to do this a worldwide depression is unavoidable and the result will be a third world war that the world can not afford given the destruction technologies now widely available.

Diabetes - The Emotional Side

Looking back nearly fifteen years ago when I first suspected I had diabetes, several emotions played a rather substantial part in my diseases development. Any one of them at any given time could have made the disease much worse and made my life in general worse.

The physical aspects of diabetes are well chronicled. The emotional aspects maybe not so well. Here is a partial list of the emotions I experienced and the impact they had on me.

DENIAL. When I first was told I had diabetes this was the first emotion I had. Maybe it was the nonchalant way the Dr. told me I had the disease in my life. He didnt handle it very well which set the stage for my feelings. Those feelings only prolonged my getting control of the disease. Getting control of diabetes at an early stage of development is critical.

ANGER. The next emotion I remember having was anger. After the news set in and I began to get a grip on my situation I was mad. Mad at my Dr., mad at GOD, just mad at everything for getting my simple life so complicated. Mad at my new disease for turning my life up side down in my very prime.

WITHDRAWAL. I have always been an outgoing type. The retail food biz sort of demands that. When I got the news of my new disease (looking back in hindsight) I can see how slowly I began to withdraw and become more introverted. My personality slowly started changing as well. I became more serious and less fun loving.

DEPRESSION. Without sounding overly dramatic, there were/are times when I became depressed with my newfound disease. All the changes I had to make in my diet; the long list of meds arising from complications; the never ending (for me ) battle of weight loss; the stress of knowing the complications that can develop from my inaction; the list goes on.

Those were the major emotions I experienced-there are others. What to do about it? The most important thing is to have a great support team surrounding you-family, spouse, doctor, nutritionist, etc. all those who can provide the emotional support you will need to cope with this disease. There are support groups at most hospitals that may help too.

The next thing is to know as much as you can about the disease. Only thru knowledge can you have any chance of success in fighting this horrific disease.
